SIMON ESLERSimon has been performing with theatre companies throughout Canada during the 8 years since completing his theatrical training at York University. Recent credits include Fantastic Extravagance (Toronto Fringe Festival), I Will Not Hatch! (Steady State Theatre), and Suddenly Last Summer (Red Light District). At Mysteriously Yours, Simon has had the great pleasure of playing and developing over sixteen characters, including “Ethan Runt” in Spy School, “Justin Bieberdrake” in Killer Tunes!, and “Watson” in “Murder by the Books!”. Simon is grateful for the ongoing opportunity to perform with Mysteriously Yours, both on the road and at the theatre.
TOM MELISSIS *Tom is thrilled and giddy to be back working with Mysteriously Yours and with yet another superbly talented cast. He has been a professional actor for over 25 years, and can be seen in 15 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation as well as a recent appearance in NBC’s Heroes Reborn. Some of his past credits include series regular on the award winning hit TV show Due South and guest starring in several other acclaimed shows such as Flashpoint and Da Vinci’s Inquest, to name just a few. His comedic skills were honed while performing with The Second City during the late 80’s and continue to be honed while sharing laughs in the dressing room with his cast mates.
VICTORIA MURDOCHBorn and raised in Toronto, Victoria has performed in New York and Los Angeles and is a recent graduate of the Second City Training Centre’s Conservatory, long-form, and writing programs. She also holds an Honours BFA in theatre from York University and created and starred in the critically acclaimed one-woman plays Dairy-Free Love and Bootlegger’s Wife, named Best of Fringe at the 2014 Hamilton Fringe Theatre Festival. MICHELLE REGALBorn and raised in California, Michelle has found joy as an actor and professional ballroom dancer and instructor. She especially loves performing in murder mystery theatre, having played 39 characters in more than 30 different murder mysteries over the past 19 years. Other memorable moments include honing her improv skills performing melodrama and vaudeville at the Gaslighter Theater, almost passing out from heat exhaustion as Tigger in the stage show Goofy Tunes Up at Disneyland, dancing Argentine tango in Rent, risking her life strapped to a flying contraption for a Kraft cheese commercial in Italy, and working with five Las Vegas Elvis impersonators in a Cheryl Crow music video. Michelle made her debut with Mysteriously Yours as “Agatha” in 2016’s Murder by the Books! and she is honoured to perform with the talented cast of The Final Clue?.
PIERRE ALAIN TRUDEL*Originally from Saint- Boniface, Manitoba, Pierre has lived and worked as a bilingual actor in Toronto since 1985. As well as his many television and stage roles, you may recognize Pierre as one of the founding members of Men In Tights, the hilarious trio that uses improvisation and audience participation to spoof Shakespeare and other classic tales. Pierre, a veteran Murder Mystery performer, was last seen on the Mysteriously Yours stage last year in SUPERHERO! A BAM! ZAP! POW! MURDER MYSTERY! as “The Canadian Shield”, the world’s most polite superhero.
DANNY WENGLE*Danny is a Toronto-based actor, writer, and sound designer. He has appeared in Huron Country Playhouse’s production of Rumors, Lovers and Madmen’s Kvetch, Sunshine Festival’s Dial M for Murder, and White Line Fever’s Girls We Have Known. Television and feature film credits include Doc, Exhibit A, Booze Can, and A Whisper to a Scream. As a recurring Mysteriously Yours performer for the past 30 years, Danny has written 12 and appeared in 30 of our mysteries. Recent roles include “Lt Carumbo” in Uptown Abbey, “Sam Spade” in Speakeasy!, “Dr Elron Hubris” in Spy School and “Bob Dylan” in Killer Tunes.
Mimico Vice Understudies
ALLAN COOKE *Allan is pleased as punch to be back working with Mysteriously Yours after loving the role of “Knuckles” in Speakeasy! and “Alfred Hitchmock” in Getting Hitched!. Originally from England, Allan has been a Toronto based actor for four years, making strides in voiceover work (he recently provided voices for a new PS4 game) as well as being seen in TV shows like Murdoch Mysteries, Reign, and the short film The Bone Orchard. He calcified his funny bone by training with Second City and performing with sketch troupe Weaker Vessels (Cream of Comedy Finalists 2014) before doing good deeds last winter dressed as the Abominable Snowman. A keen scriptwriter, he’s currently working on some very groovy projects – so Watch This Space! – (after watching the show, of course…). Enjoy!
IAN KEELINGIan has been improvising for over 15 years and currently teaches improv at various institutions throughout Toronto including Second City and Bad Dog Theatre. As an improviser, his more recent credits include Harry Patter and the Improvisor’s Stone and The Lord of the Things. His most recent stage productions include The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Comedy of Errors. His poetry and short stories have been published in a variety of magazines and his first play, The Boys, came third in the 2003 Toronto Fringe Playwriting Contest.
SCOTT MAUDSLEY *Scott is looking forward to playing the big man with the big…moustache, Magnum, in Mimico Vice. Recently, Scott has played the title character and the Chief of Police in Dina Morrone’s Moose on the Loose which played in both Sudbury and Thunder Bay where it had its Canadian Premiere. Also recent are Angus in the Port Stanley Festival Theatre’s production of the Drawer Boy and Frank in their production of Mini Putt, written by Simon Joynes. Scott has been on the big screen as Dodge in Carver’s Gate, and George in Wide Awake. He has also appeared on the small screen in Doc, Codename Eternity, and as Officer Findlay in Anne of Green Gables. And if you haven’t seen him in any of the above, you will certainly remember him as the Dad in the Turtles commercial which has played every Christmas for the past 6 years…or even better, on the Air Canada in-flight safety video.
LAURENCE J PRANCE *Laurence has been with Mysteriously Yours for more than 28 years, performing numerous characters including “Ricky Ratchett” in Murder on the DisOrient Express!, “The Incredible Blade” in Boom… You’re Dead!, “Kato” in Murder on Sunset Blvd!, “Colonel Mustard” in Dying For A Clue?!, “Regis” in Who Wants to be a Dead Millionaire?!, “Gordon Ramekin” in Hal’s Kitchen, and “Doc” in Speakeasy!. Larry has also performed for Equity Showcase and with the children’s touring company, Erewhon Theatre. Film, television, and radio credits include Top Cops, Night Heat, Chasing Rainbows, The Edison Twins, a radio version of Macbeth, and two short films, Heartbrake Verite and Small World’s Momma’s Boys. Laurence studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England and at the University of Toronto.
CLARE PREUSS *Clare is delighted to be part of the Mysteriously Yours ensemble, having collaborated with innovative theatre companies in Canada, Germany, Lebanon, Switzerland, and Uganda including: Alameda, Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland, bcurrent, BeMe, Blyth Festival, Buddies in Bad Times, Cahoots, Carlos Bulosan, Driftwood, Dynamo, Factory, Friction Group, fu-GEN, Young People’s Theatre, Native Earth Performing Arts, New Harlem Productions, National Arts Centre, Nightwood, Stratford Festival, Sundown, Theatre Direct, and Volcano. She has appeared on TV and in numerous feature films, including her role as “Caroline Kraft” in the cult classic Mean Girls. She is a certified yoga instructor and part-time faculty at Humber College. Clare is a recipient of the Houselighters of the Citadel Theatre Award and was named an outstanding director by NOW Magazine for her direction of Salome’s Clothes.
BARB SCHEFFLER *Barb is an actor, singer, writer, director, and choreographer who has performed in and around Toronto and at various regional theatres for over 20 years. Some of her favourite roles include “Marjorie” in Marjorie’s Wedding; “DeeDee” in Suds; “Mrs. Martin” in The Bald Soprano; “Yum Yum” in The Mikado; “Ella Hammer” in The Cradle Will Rock; “Florence Vassy” in Chess; and “Sister Mary Amnesia” in Nunsense II. As a recurring performer with Mysteriously Yours, she has played many, many roles and is thrilled to see her third murder mystery, The Final Clue?, come to life.
